User Managed Blocks
FireSysCAD uses AutoCAD based drawing blocks for use by the program. Users can easily create new or revise existing device blocks. The program is not specific to a blocks shape, but only that the block contains specifically named attributes. The attributes currently being used are device numbers (node/control, detector, module, visual, speaker, pre-signal, telephone, auxiliary power and duplicate), level, location, zone, ceiling height, candela, watt, decibel, miscellaneous subscript text (IO, Cover, etc.), and miscellaneous superscript text (Ceiling, High Candela, Waterproof, Explosion Proof, etc.). Additional attributes could be added to the blocks for future use by the software. User can also add and change company blocks (title sheets, details, notes, scope of work, sequence of operation, building information, occupancy chart or any other company standard block).

Note - the NFPA device blocks created by FireSysCAD are modified NFPA 2018 symbols. Changes were made to linework and text inside the symbol to save space in the drawing.
Clients can modify any of the device blocks to suit their needs. They can also create multiple folders with different blocks for their clients who might have different symbol requirements.

User Managed Excel Data Files
FireSysCAD uses Excel data files to store information about devices, sheets, details, project information, users, layers, etc. The data files are maintained by the user/manager allowing the company to add new devices/panels to their standards. The user can quickly add new device blocks, manufacturer models, etc. to the data file for instant use by the software. Equipment and Standards data files are typically maintained by Managers while Project Information files are typically maintained by employees. Companies can maintain multiple sets of Equipment and Standards data files (stored in separated) allowing different types of projects (local jobs, government jobs, international jobs). This process allows for different device symbols, title blocks, notes, details and even different languages.

The following list of data files, sheets and values may change at any time for updates to FireSysCAD.

Project Information data file is used to maintain information about each specific project with the following sheets –
Project – project information, engineer/contractor/client (names, addresses, phone numbers, logos, etc.), engineering stamp info, drawing scale, equipment manufacturers name and model, detector/module limits, candela code table and manufacturer’s heat detector spacing. New project information values added to the sheet and new attributes added to Title Sheets are automatically used by the software to update sheets.
Wires – wire name, label, gauge, description, cable, wire type, wire product name/number
Levels – level name and 1st chime code (zones)
Locations – location name and 2nd chime code (zones)
Zones – zone name, floor and location
Sheets – sheet number, title text, block name, scale factor, printer, paper size, plot style, sheet objects (cover, notes, legend, detail, etc.), viewport(s)
Folders – list of folders where project specific files can be found. User is always given the chance to locate files outside current project
Heat Detector – chart with NFPA 72 heat detector spacing de-rate multiplier based on ceiling height (used to calculate area based on manufacturer’s spacing)

Standards data file is used to maintain company standard with the following sheets -
Layers – layer control name, company layer name, layer single line or multiple line, color, linetype, plot/no plot and layer description
User Data – windows logon name, user default osnap settings, user default printer, dialog box height and width, and default block insert method
Text Styles – name, font, height or annotative, width factor, oblique angle, backwards, upside-down, vertical and default style
Managers – list of User/Managers by windows logon name that are allowed to run specific
Scale Factors – list of company approved drawing scale factors
Messages – list of messages input into parts list and wire legend
Attributes – list of attributes used by FireSysCAD
Company Blocks – list of company block names
Object Paint – list of colors FireSysCAD uses to paint objects (block found dot, pline shown, arrows and X's)
Settings – list of settings (max. distance device block to circuit vertex, table object size and text style, etc.)
FCP Calcs – list of location where FireSysCAD writes data to the FACP voltage drop calculation excel data file
BPS Calcs – list of location where FireSysCAD writes data to the BPS voltage drop calculation excel data file
AMP Calcs – list of location where FireSysCAD writes data to the Speaker voltage drop calculation excel data file

Equipment data file is used to maintain SLC device information with the following sheets -
Blocks – block abbreviation, drawing name, block group (control, detector, module, visual, speaker, presignal, miscellaneous block, telephone, auxiliary power, duplicate, cover available, show in part list, layer control name, description (legend), description (part list), installation and mounting notes, and 1 column with Manufacturer/Model to show part number. Additional Manufacturer/Model information can easily be added.
Panels – contains a list of Manufacturer/Models. For each Manufacturer/Model there is the following information – maximum NAC circuits, maximum SLC circuits, maximum SLC detectors, maximum SLC modules, total SLC devices and SLC numbering style. The maximum values are used by the program to notify user when they exceed these values, however the program does not prevent the user from exceeding values.
Duplicate DEVN – duplicate device numbering – this is used by the program to allow 2 devices to have the same device number. User list Duplicate Device block name and all other device block names that are associated with th duplicate device.
Group Headers – list of groups of Headers (from Blocks sheet) used by FireSysCAD to determine groups (SLC, NAC, Other)

Notification multiple data files (by manufacturer and model) that are used to maintain information about notification devices –
Note - within each data file, there can be multiple sheets for maintaining separate lists of current draws
Standard – Block Abbreviation, Block name, Part Number by color (Red, Red Plain, White, etc.), Candela settings, Visual Device DC Current Draw, Visual Device FWR Current Draw,
(2) columns with DC/FWR Current Draw for each Audible Characteristics - Sound Pattern (Temporal, Code, Non-coded) and Volume Setting (High, Medium, Low, etc.),
Wattage, Installation Notes and Mounting Notes.

Candela Code data file is used to maintain Candela Spacing Code information with the following sheets -
Colors – Transparency and Color number(s) by light/dark background
Wall #### – 1 sheet for every year of code
Ceiling ####-## – 1 sheet for every year of code (####) and maximum ceiling height (##)

Notes data file is used by user to create mtext or leaders -
The data file can contain multiple sheet names and multiple rows of text per sheet. The rows can have multiple cells for automatic line feed in mtext/leader.
Sheet Name – Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, etc.

Matrix data file is used by user to create operational matrix -
The data file can contain multiple sheet with different values for varying size of projects.
